PocketBook was founded in 2007. At present, 5 million PocketBook models have been sold. The products are represented in 35 countries around the world. Now the company is the world’s 3rd largest manufacturer of electronic readers based on the E-Ink technology.
E-ink or electronic paper is an information display technology that works on different principles than usual screens. They are more economical in the batteries’ consumption and less burden on the eyes when reading.
The creation of a corporate website focused on products for dozens of countries. The site should be simple, convenient and have a universal design.
The client was afraid that we would not be able to get to the target audience, since we do not understand the European mentality very well. Basicly the main target audience for PocketBook is the German people from 35 years old.
The main page
So as the main emphasis was on the home page, we have created the several design variants of it. There were an animation, 3D-model, branded e-book bending elements, and the block concerning the PocketBook mobile application, and so on.
We have made the remaining pages of the website simpler and highlighted them with rich content.
Interactivity
The main accent in design was focused on new Pocketbook product - Touch HD 3. We wanted to show it from all sides, and to give the user the opportunity to look at the product in more detail and to “feel” it with his eyes.
Therefore we used an interactive 3D-model, instead of standard photos. This technique allowed the client to fall in love with the product design from the first visit to the site.
It was difficult to achieve a smooth animation of the book from point A to point B. We decided to do this not from the standard set of pictures, which alternate when scrolling - as everyone does, but from the video where the dark background was deleted.
Depending on the mouse wheel, the model gradually changed its position, and no matter how quickly the user scrolled through the page, he saw a smooth picture
Mobile adaptation
We also worked on the mobile version of the website, adapted it to different devices.
Simple admin panel
Much work has been done on the admin panel. Separate subdomains were created for more than a dozen countries where a new product was introduced. Additionally, we have developed a page creation designer. For example, you can add a unique product page that is available only in the selected country. And vice versa - you can create a page that will be displayed at once in all countries.
The client received a corporate website that greatly simplifies the work and interaction with the audience in different countries.
We hit the mark with the concept that we proposed. We proved that we can create understandable for European audience design.
